Message from Our President Barry Bell
I have been asked “what is in store for the Central Indiana Unit for 2009”? First of all, I think that we all worked hard to obtain new members last year. The membership campaign was pretty successful. We need to continue this push into 2009. The second phase of membership is to retain last year’s members. We must follow-up with those who do not re-register and try to retain them. You will be asked to help with this.
Campouts will be more theme oriented. One will have the major activities on the weekend. Another will be longer with activities you can pick and choose to do every day. Another we know the grandchildren will really enjoy.
Many of our new members are already active in our unit. Continue to make them feel at home. It is up to us, the “old timers”, to be of assistance whenever we can.
Another goal is to reduce unit costs. The first effort you will see is our newsletter “The Ticker” will be made available to you electronically. This will save paper, ink, printing, postage costs, etc. We encourage you to go paperless and tell Patsy Marston, Karen Bell, or Ron Gordy you would like to receive it this way. These three are doing a great job of trying to get this done. It is my vision that we will only need to send out “hard” copies by snail mail to only those without computers.
The Christmas Luncheon is just around the corner on December 6th. It is being held on the north side of Indianapolis this year. We have a great menu planned along with a fantastic vocal group that you will really enjoy.
